There are 3 main internal individual quality control workflows: Pre-delivery checks, Post-delivery checks and Loc QC Report Migration.

1. Pre-delivery checks (spot checks performed by Language Lead/backup Language Lead/Language Consultant)

These critical pre-delivery checks are implemented to ensure the highest quality of linguistic deliverables, particularly for projects involving new talent or linguists transitioning into new specialized roles. The process is designed to mitigate risks and guarantee adherence to project guidelines and quality standards.

The following scenarios necessitate a pre-delivery check:

  • Newcomers: For the initial 5 projects undertaken by any new linguist joining our team, a pre-delivery check is mandatory. This helps onboard them effectively, familiarize them with our quality expectations, and provide early feedback and guidance.

  • Legacy linguists in new roles: When an experienced linguist takes on a new specialized role (such as Quality Control (QC), Supplemental, SDH (Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing), or Template creation), their first five projects in that new capacity will also undergo a pre-delivery check. This ensures a smooth transition and verifies their understanding of the specific requirements and nuances of their new responsibilities.

All requests for pre-delivery checks must be submitted by linguists through the Pre-Delivery Check Request form.

2. Post-delivery checks (spot checks performed by Language Lead/backup Language Lead/Language Consultant)

Post-delivery checks are an integral part of our quality assurance process, ensuring that projects meet the highest standards even after initial delivery. These checks are conducted on an ongoing basis.

Selection Criteria for Post-Delivery Checks:

  • Random Selection by PMs: To ensure impartiality, projects are randomly chosen by Project Managers. This means that LLs do not select the projects themselves. This blind selection ensures unbiased approach.
  • Focus on Projects Without Loc QC: A primary criterion for projects undergoing post-delivery checks is that they did not previously go through a formal Loc QC process. This targeted approach allows us to focus our resources on projects that may not have had an additional layer of quality review.

3. Loc QC Report Migration (full checks performed by QCer, but migrated by Language Lead/backup Language Lead/Language Consultant)

In addition to pre-delivery and post-delivery checks conducted by the LL team, the results of Loc QC checks are occasionally shared with linguists. In such instances, the QCer flags and implements the corrections during the standard Loc QC workflow, and the results are then migrated to the individual quality tracker by LL/b-LL or LC.

Main Points:

  • You get all the feedback: Full Loc QC report with all the corrections is shared.

  • Not all Loc QC reports are migrated: Only those projects that show concerning quality indicators, trends or metrics are required to be migrated.

  • Special cases: Even if there aren't obvious quality problems, LL may still decide to migrate some projects if there's any valuable feedback that is good to be shared with the linguist.

The results of Pre-delivery checks, Post-delivery checks and Loc QC Report Migration are shared with you via your Individual Quality Tracker. Learn more
