There are two types of QC which may be performed on a translator’s file within DTT. 

Localization QCs (Loc QCs) are performed by linguists within the DTT pool and consist of a full QC of the whole subtitle file for any given episode or feature. Changes will be made by the QCer themselves and if there are a significant number of mistakes, the translator will receive a report from Keywords listing all the errors that were flagged by the QCer.  That way, we can examine what went wrong and what might need to be addressed and whether any retraining is required.

Asset QCs are often performed by third parties and often consist of a 5-point check where the file is checked at the beginning, 25% in, 50% in, 75% in and at the very end (usually just for 1 or 2 minutes at each point). If the QCcer finds errors at those points, the file may receive a Fail notice and it will be reopened for the translator to make any necessary corrections. In that case an author must fill DTT Asset QC Fail Report.

QCers who are the members of the DTT Team in Keywords perform Localization QC (Loc QC) in Originator. Localization QC qualifies translation quality, consistency and style guide conformance. This process involves a QC operator reviewing the timed text asset, implementing changes and categorizing the reasoning for the changes.
